Sprig of heatherSt Andrew Society of Paphos

very recently we have been much too cold, to sit outside much, or even to sit inside - keep moving has definitely been the order of the day!

I recommend several runs through of Ian Powrie’s Farewell …  as a good dance for keeping warm on a chilling morning — Pete is now basking in the reputation of being a good dancer, what people don’t realize is that the choice of dance or suffer from frostbite has improved his dancing no end, our neighbours have started to give us a wide berth however, and we don’t blame them - the sight of us prancing around 6 other, totally invisible, dancers must have worried them slightly—we are expecting the men in white coats to visit any day now!

Another slightly unrealistic expectation was my assumption that I would easily be able to update this site at least once a week, and then I blink and 3 weeks have whizzed by; one day, I promise, I will be organized but I hope there is no-one out there holding their breath.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Easter holidays as much as we did. Our village Easter Festival was great fun, and as Pete and I are both keen photographers (well he does moving pictures, but it is effectively the same thing) it gave us some great photo opportunities, as so many things do in Cyprus (how many people went to the wonderful flower festival at Ayia Kyriaki?). It was also lovely to feel part of the village community, talking of which, Pete is just off to participate in the Saturday village football practice, since this involves running around a gravel pitch with lads at least 40 years younger than him (and I am being kind here) I suspect the next few days are going to be a little painful—but a bit of exercise is needed to burn of all the delicious cheese that he consumed at the Cheese and Wine evening at Alison’s place a few days ago, and it sure beats sitting at a computer all day! :)

Cheers

It’s a few months now since Pete and I volunteered to take on this web site and two things have since become clear - there is far more going on in the Society than we at first thought and that time really does fly when you are having fun!

Being fairly new to Cyprus we naively expected that we would have plenty of time to sit on the patio and sip a cool drink and generally wind down from the hurly burly of working life. This has most definitely not been the case, for a start, the village we live in is quite high up so until
