Text Box: Our coming week’s program consists of a grand Mairi’s Wedding teach in for the first half of the class, this is a new concept for us and I hope it will be as successful, and as much fun as last Tuesday night was —I encourage everyone to come along from 6 p.m. even if they are very familiar with Mairi’s Wedding since it is much easier for beginners to pick up a dance if they have the help of experienced dancers in the set and of course I would like to encourage as many ‘beginners’ as possible to come since this is your opportunity to learn a wonderful dance which is on almost every dance programme in the world.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone next week

    Cheers

The Scottish Joke (with thanks to Barbara for the original idea)
An American tourist was doing the UK grand tour, starting in London of course. Whilst visiting St Paul’s Cathedral he notices a golden telephone labelled “£1000 a minute” and asks the guide what it is for, “It’s a direct line to Heaven” was the answer. The tourist was fascinated but decided the budget couldn’t stretch that far just for the off chance of contacting someone he knew. During the next few weeks as he gradually travelled northward he noticed a similar golden telephone in most of the Cathedrals he visited, all of them displaying similar rates. Eventually he got to Edinburgh and while trotting round St Giles in the wake of his guide he is naturally stunned to see a similar phone tucked behind one of pillars with a simple sign, ‘Caw’ yer deed fawk’, 5 minutes fer 10p” Wondering if he had misunderstood he asked the guide for an explanation— it’s simple, he was told, “ It’s just tha same, a leen to Heav’n, but ower the border your man’s callin’ lang distance, here it’s just a wee local call!”
Text Box: Hi everyone

I am typing this while still flushed with the success of our DIY dancing night—thank you to all the volunteer dance leaders, Jo, Barbara, Arnie, Maxine, Alison, Jenny, Ken and David for a great night of great dancing. We whizzed through the set programme and even had time for extra dances to round off the evening.
